born in Dumfries Scotland, migrated to America at the age of 20 years old;May 1833 moved to Liberty Twsp.; had eight children, but only four lived.

daughter of Robert Kirkpatrick; married Joshua Pennell, (Sept. 26, 1860) had two children Joshua and Hannah (Shoemaker);(see also Pennell)
